Napoli signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic 'more than a   suggestion', says owner Aurelio De Laurentiis

On the sidelines of the match against Salzburg, Aurelio De Laurentiis reacted to the rumoured Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The president of Napoli sees in the Swede a real desire.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not yet done with his season in MLS with the Los Angeles Galaxy as his name is already circulating all over Europe. It must be said that the Swedish striker did what it took to light the fuses. The former PSG player has made no secret of his desire to return to Serie A and work with Carlo Ancelotti, with whom he has already collaborated in the Capital. "After watching the last documentary about Maradona, I would almost like to try an experiment in Naples, to realize what Diego did. With me, San Paolo would always be full and Ancelotti is a great coach.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis said the contract with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Los Angeles Galaxy striker, was 'more than a suggestion'.

Ibra's contract with Los Angeles expires at the end of December, and he will be free to leave for any other club.

"Ibrahimovic is a friend, I met him in Los Angeles not as a footballer, but as a normal person because we were in the same hotel," Di Laurentis told Sky Sports Italia.

He added: 'I invited him to dinner with his wife and children, and we had a great time, I wish I could see him in The Colors of Naples, it's more than just a suggestion and depends on it, we've talked about it for a few months now.'

But the final decision will depend on various aspects. In the tone of humour, the Italian technician was open. But, it was still missing the opinion of Aurelio De Laurentiis, never really fond of players at the end of his career. The volcanic president of Napoli finally came out of silence on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the Europa League match against Salzburg. "He's a friend, I met him not as a footballer, but as a person because we met in the same hotel in Los Angeles and invited him to dinner," the Italian businessman said in remarks reported by TMW. We had a good night. He's been talking about it for a few months so it's more than a suggestion, it's a wish. Now it's up to him. The ball is now in the LA Galaxy captain's camp.
The former Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan and Barcelona striker has not decided yet the next step in his career, but he has reiterated that he is ready for a new challenge.

Ibrahimovic had said earlier that he felt Italy was his 'second home' and that he was looking forward to returning to Serie A.

Speaking to Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport after the unveiling of his statue in his home town of Malmo in Sweden, he said he feels like Italy is his "second home" and would look forward to a return to Serie A.

"I am 38 years old and the enthusiasm of a boy, with the same desire to win," he said. "I don't think about my future yet, I will calmly evaluate with my family. To continue [playing], as I say, I have to find something special, that can keep the fire inside me alive: here or elsewhere.

"Italy is my second home, I experienced unforgettable moments there. I would like to go in a team that fights for the title, I can still make a difference. I'm not some sort of zoo animal that people go and see, I can still hit 20 goals per season.

"I'm not saying I'll be going there, the final decision will depend on many factors, but it's a city that creates a lot of enthusiasm. With me, the San Paolo would sell out every week. And [Napoli boss Carlo] Ancelotti is there, he's a football great."

"I have a great deal of affection for him, I saw he scored 29 goals in 30 MLS games. Tomorrow, after I've called him, I'll let you know how it went!"
