Barcelona's rising youngster Anso Vatti has named his squad for the international stage, having made a striking appearance recently with the Blaugrana.

According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Fati chose to play for Spain, despite Portugal's attempts to persuade him to represent her.

The Spanish federation asked the local authorities to accelerate the process of granting citizenship to the player, to participate with the youngsters Matador in the next World Cup, under-17.

Born in Guinea-Bissau, he moved with his family to live in Seville when he was six, so he prefers to play internationally next to his Spanish colleagues and friends.

The player needs to acquire Spanish citizenship first, but this will not be difficult, given his father who has enough years of residence there to obtain citizenship.

According to Sport, Portuguese football officials have not given up despite Fati's decision and are continuing to entice him, especially since anyone born in Guinea-Bissau has the right to acquire Portuguese citizenship because of the country's status as a former colony of the Iberian state.

Anso's father also worked for a while in Portugal.
