FC BARCELONE prepares a life contract for Lionel Messi

While a clause could allow Lionel Messi to cancel his contract next summer, FC Barcelona would consider proposing to "La Pulga" a new lease ... for an indefinite period. At least that's what Mundo Deportivo reveals this Sunday.

This is a scenario that one can hardly imagine: Lionel Messi will he defend the colors of another club than FC Barcelona before the end of his career? Nothing seems less certain, as the links uniting the Argentine prodigy to the Catalan institution seem indestructible. However, an element mentioned by El Pais on Friday gave a little more weight to the hypothesis of a departure. According to the information revealed by the Spanish daily, captain Blaugrana has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave Barça in June 2020. This clause could be activated unilaterally by the 32-year-old, if it came to have desires elsewhere.

Note that emblematic elements such as Xavi or Andrés Iniesta had also benefited from a clause of this type in their contract. This Sunday, Mundo Deportivo has dedicated his One to the fivefold Golden Ball. Linked to Barcelona until 2021, the native of Rosario has not yet really talked about extension with its leaders. And even if few clubs could support the very substantial emoluments of "La Pulga", the Catalans would like to avoid any risk by offering a lease without end date to their master to play. A kind of CDI or contract "for life" in short, although this is not at all commonplace in the world of football.
